Certification

Because we work in such a specialized field, members of FCL staff  don’t likely come across like-minded professionals on a daily basis. Therefore, in order to strengthen our staffing capacity and ensure we are getting access to the right information, resources and opportunities. FCL has signed up several of our staff members to become members of the the International Facility Management Association (IFMA). Our accreditations and industry memberships in the  International Facility Management Association (IFMA) will demonstrate our professional commitment to quality, industry trends, and technological breakthroughs.

A stalwart among facilities management associations, the International Facility Management Association (IFMA) sets most industry precedents for training, education, and action. IFMA also has an extensive professional development curriculum and a robust community network around the globe. It sponsors numerous annual events to help professionals stay on the cutting edge of a growing industry. IFMA also puts out regular publications, including a magazine, newsletters, briefs, case studies, press releases, and books. The organization’s mission is simply about empowering facility professionals worldwide.

Through our membership in IFMA, we will interact with other people in the FM community, which will provide us with new insights on how we can do our jobs better, learn about other strategies that you’re not considering – either for budgeting better, designing the workspace more effectively or making the office more productive? More importantly, Our FM network can be an excellent source of new perspectives and ideas to help our staff in their role of managing government facilities. Nothing beats exchanging information on challenges, experiences and goals.

Our membership will put our staff on a path to become Facility Management Professional (FMP). The FMP is designed for facility professionals looking to strengthen their hard and soft skills in facility management. It not only demonstrates a person’s understanding of critical facility management competencies, it’s also a sign of their ongoing commitment to the profession. Additionally, FMP allows

  • Better fundamental understanding of core facility concepts

  • Professionals gain more confidence in their job performance

  • Continuing education demands keep FMPs attuned to industry best practices

  • FMP certification (and other accreditations) stands out on résumés

  • FMPs can command a higher salary due to their formalized education

  • Certification opens the door to upward mobility, including higher accreditations
